Taylor Swift has fans guessing again. She announced on Wednesday that she is releasing The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore this Friday, with one of its four new songs titled "Cleveland!" Here is what has been confirmed and what is still speculation.

The Encore is an extended edition of her 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl, and it arrives Friday, September 25. It has four new tracks: "Patient Zero," "Cleveland!," "Pink Clouding" and "Babylon." The original 12-song album stays intact, so the expanded edition has 16 tracks. According to Spotify, "Cleveland!" is track 14.

The rollout moved fast. Swift announced "Patient Zero" on Tuesday, her first new song since her wedding this summer. Less than a day later she revealed the full four-song extension.

How the songs came about

In her Instagram announcement, Swift said she took a trip to Sweden to celebrate the album's initial release with her two collaborators, Max Martin and Shellback. She said they wanted to reflect and take in the moment, but there was a studio there, so they did what they do and wrote more songs. She added that the songs were born out of gratitude for fans' celebration of the album.

Why "Cleveland!" has fans talking

Swift's husband, Travis Kelce, is a Cleveland Heights native, so the title is widely being read as a nod to his hometown. Swift and Kelce also bought a $5.35 million estate on the shore of Lake Erie in Bratenahl in March, a few months before their wedding in New York City.

The connection is still speculation. Swift has not released the lyrics or explained the story behind the song, so it could be a love song, a memory of a specific moment or something else entirely. Swift has often woven places and personal experiences into her songwriting, which is part of why the title has drawn so much attention.
